Izzy Award 2013

The fifth annual Izzy Award was presented April 17, 2013, to the nonprofit news outlet Mother Jones, for publishing eye-opening stories and investigations throughout 2012. Izzy judges praised Mother Jones for “shining light into the dark corners of American politics and society.”

Accepting the award on behalf of Mother Jones were Washington Bureau chief David Corn (who released the “47%” undercover video that rocked the Mitt Romney campaign in 2012), publisher Steve Katz, and environmental/reproductive health reporter Kate Sheppard, a 2006 Ithaca College graduate. The ceremony took place in Ithaca College’s Emerson Suites.
